About

Chad Oppenheim established Oppenheim Architecture in Miami in 1999. Oppenheim leads a team of more than 70, and Swiss architect Beat Huesler, a friend of his from Cornell, runs the firm's studios in Basel and Tirana. The Miami studio sits in the Design District.

Oppenheim designs spare, heavy buildings for dramatic sites and brings a resort sensibility to private homes. In Miami his firm designed Ten Museum Park, a 50-story condominium tower, and Cor, a condominium proposal that integrated wind turbines and solar panels. In Jordan, his team designed the Wadi Rum Desert Resort, where it proposed setting 47 lodges into the sandstone cliffs.

The Chicago Athenaeum gave Oppenheim the 2023 American Prize for Architecture. The firm counts more than 130 industry distinctions, with more than 65 from the AIA and a National Design Award from Cooper Hewitt. If you want a house or hotel shaped around its landscape, you can study the firm's desert and waterfront work side by side.
