About
Jacob Brillhart founded Brillhart Architecture, a small studio in Little River that takes on design-build work beside its houses. He earned a BA in architecture at Tulane and a Master of Architecture at Columbia, and he teaches as an associate professor at the University of Miami School of Architecture.
The studio has collected a stack of AIA awards for its houses, including a 2024 AIA Florida Honor Award for Excellence for the Durango Cabin. Beyond houses, the team designs interiors and furniture. Brillhart paints as well as builds, and he approaches each project through light and the clarity of its structure.
In 2015 W. W. Norton published his book Voyage Le Corbusier: Drawing on the Road, a compendium of 175 travel drawings and watercolors that Le Corbusier made between 1907 and 1911. Architectural Record has profiled him. If you want a small office where the principal teaches and draws, and a house with a strong sense of craft, Brillhart fits.
