About

Anne Fairfax and Richard Sammons founded Fairfax & Sammons as partners in business and in marriage. Their team of 22 works from an office in Palm Beach and a second in New York City. Fairfax lives in Palm Beach and serves as a commissioner on the town's Landmarks Preservation Commission, so she knows the island's preservation rules from the inside.

Sammons is an authority on architectural proportion. He has taught at The Prince of Wales's Institute of Architecture in London and at Pratt Institute in New York, and both partners belong to the INTBAU College of Traditional Practitioners. The pair base the proportions of their new houses on classical models, and their clients get homes that look settled on their lots from the first day.

The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art has given the firm several Stanford White Awards. In 2025 its Florida chapter added an Addison Mizner Award for a new Anglo-Caribbean house. Architectural Digest Middle East published the firm's La Claridad project, and House & Garden UK featured a French Provincial maisonette the firm designed in Manhattan's Meatpacking District.
